Individual Counseling

Our approach to therapy provides every individual with an experienced clinician who works to identify and address challenges that are affecting daily functioning. Therapy allows you to express your thoughts, feelings and experiences in a safe and accepting environment. Through our results-oriented approach, we will evaluate and assess your identified concerns. Based on that assessment, we will diagnose your condition(s) and schedule appropriate treatment interventions to help you get your life back on track. We will recommend the best therapy solution for you, but we will never implement solutions unless you are comfortable with the interventions. All treatments are mutually agreed upon by you and your clinician. Our clinicians have decades of experience working with myriad mental health, behavioral and emotional challenges. Our entire team will treat you with the utmost respect and dignity.

We encourage our clients to continue individual counseling subsequent to successful completion of their recommended treatment program in order to improve their chances of successful recovery maintenance and to continue to gain insight about their life and the emotional challenges ahead. Aftercare counseling provides the client with continued support, even if the client feels ready to make it on their own. It allows the client to focus on him/herself and continue to be held accountable for their actions. It provides a safe outlet while the client continues to learn more about themselves as they change and grow through the recovery process. At ACTC, we want to prepare you for a life free of alcohol and drugs, and believe that continuing to work with a therapist after treatment can be a great benefit to long term recovery.

Group Counseling

Group Therapy offers a variety of peer-based sessions to children and adults. A small number of like individuals meet to participate in weekly sessions to gain insight into thoughts and behaviors under the guidance of a professionally trained group facilitator. Group therapy sessions work to assist individuals with learning about themselves, improving relationships and developing better coping and symptom management skills. Group members experience emotional support, empathic understanding and authentic encouragement from one another. These sessions are instrumental in healing many types of emotional and psychological struggles such as: depression, anxiety, anger, fear, shame, etc. The participants learn to accept support from others while increasing understanding and developing new ways of interacting with one another.

Family Consultation

ACTC recognizes how crucial it is to engage family members and significant others in the treatment and recovery process. The importance of examining family systems and challenging self-deception of family dynamics justifies a strong family program and arrangement of services.

Family services include groups consisting of just family members and significant others which will allow members to share freely with each other and relate to common problems and solutions.

Family therapy includes families and couples in intimate relationships with goals to nurture and encourage change and development. It tends to view change in terms of the systems of interaction between family members. It emphasizes family relationships as an important factor in psychological health. The different schools of family therapy have in common a belief that, regardless of the origin of the problem and regardless of whether the clients consider it an “individual” or “family” issue, involving families in solutions is often beneficial for both the client suffering from drug addiction or substance abuse as well as their family. This type of family treatment program is meant to benefit the emotional well-being and recovery of both patient and family.

Family Consultation is designed for the entire family; therefore, all family members are strongly encouraged to participate. Family Consultation provides resource coordination, training, and support to families. Family Consultants assist in areas of socialization, behavioral interventions, or other areas the family needs assistance.

The overall goal of the SEP is to meet individualized needs for competitive employment and develop a support system to achieve success in the workplace.

Community Support/Workshops

Many individuals with mental illness experience difficulty being included in the community and accessing community resources. Community support services include teaching community living skills, advocating for individuals and families, coordinating the delivery of mental health services with services provided by other mental health agencies, providing individualized guidance and support and monitoring progress in organized treatment programs. In order to be included in the community, individuals are assisted in filling valued social roles such as worker, student, neighbor, voting citizen, church member, volunteer, spouse and parent.
